Professional Development

I do not only teach my students the value of continued learning, but also believe in educating myself about new developments in business pedagogy. I see the role of research faculty in business school teaching as translating the best state-of-the-art research insights from their own work and that of their colleagues to students. To effectively support my students in achieving their learning objectives, I am thus committed to continuous professional development in research and teaching.

Routinely reflecting on and evaluating my teaching approach are important to me in this development process. I plan and routinely update next steps in my development as a teacher. During my doctoral studies at Cornell University, I have made active use of the Center for Teaching Excellence. I took a class on Teaching in Higher Education and sought further developmental feedback through classroom observation and consultation by the center’s expert staff. I also believe in learning from more experienced research faculty.
